Veterinary Assistant
Veterinary Assistants are an important part of the hands-on care we provide every day at Moorpark Veterinary Hospital. Working alongside our veterinarians and Registered Veterinary Technicians, our assistants help with patient care, treatments, procedures, and the many moving pieces that keep our medical team running smoothly. This is a great role for someone who enjoys working directly with animals, thrives in a busy environment, and wants to continue building their skills in veterinary medicine.
What You’ll Do
Responsibilities may include:
- Assist veterinarians and RVTs with patient care and treatments
- Safely restrain and handle patients
- Assist with exams, procedures, and diagnostic testing
- Prepare patients and supplies for procedures
- Assist with radiographs and laboratory samples
- Monitor and care for hospitalized patients
- Help maintain treatment areas and medical equipment
- Clean, stock, and prepare workspaces
- Accurately document information in patient medical records
- Communicate and collaborate with the medical team
- Assist with dogs, cats, and exotic pets depending on experience and training

Veterinary medicine can be fast paced, so strong communication, attention to detail, adaptability, and a willingness to jump in where needed are important.
Previous veterinary experience is required for this position.
