Microchips

Microchips can help your lost pet find its way home. The universal product that we use is the AKC microchip. The chip is injected into the scruff of your pet between the shoulder blades. This injection is no more uncomfortable than any other injection or vaccine. As an option, we offer microchipping at the time your pet is under anesthesia. After the purchase of your pet’s microchip, a one time registration fee is required. You can do this by mail or online.

DNA Breed Testing

DNA breed testing has become a popular way to learn more about your dog’s background and the various breeds that may be part of its lineage. Even “purebred” dogs sold in stores or online are often not purebred after all.

We keep the DNA testing materials in house, collect the appropriate samples, and send them out. Not only does this tell you the breeds that make up your dog, but the test screens for certain genetic diseases, which can make a difference in what to expect for your pet’s future.

Health Certificates

Health certificates are often required by airlines when traveling with your pet to another state. Your pet will be examined by a doctor and, if they are considered healthy and safe to travel, the appropriate forms will be completed and signed. Requirements vary by airline and destination, so be sure to check with your airline for specific requirements and timelines. Please have your destination address available when scheduling your pet’s health certificate appointment.

International Travel: International health certificates are more complex and require additional planning, documentation, and precise attention to each country’s specific requirements. Requirements and timelines can vary significantly by destination, and we may not be able to accommodate every international travel request. Please contact us before scheduling to confirm whether we can assist with your destination and to ensure you have enough time to complete the required process.
