If a pet has heart or kidney problems, it is very important to check if they have high blood pressure (hypertension).
Here at Moorpark Vet, we have specific cuffs for different sized patients, and the handheld units are very quiet. We allow time for the pet to adjust to the cuff being on their leg or tail prior to the measurement being taken. Our staff are trained to take accurate readings so that we can recognize if there is an underlying issue that needs treatment.
Why is it so important to treat hypertension? When high blood pressure goes untreated, it does permanent damage to the eyes, brain, kidneys, and heart. Because there may be no outward signs of hypertension, checking for it can save your pet’s life.
