How do we determine which cats need preventive care and which don’t? That’s easy! All cats, from kittens to seniors, need regular check ups to make sure they are healthy. During your cat’s preventive care exam, the doctor will check for a variety of things including signs of dental disease, obesity, and arthritis, especially in senior cats. Aside from the standard vaccines and treatments commonly done during their wellness visit, the doctor may also suggest a variety of lab work to establish a baseline for your cat’s health.
It’s okay to question why it feels like we need to do so much for your feline friend, especially when they outwardly appear to have no issues. It’s important to remember that cats are very good at hiding signs of illness or discomfort. Lab work such as our “feline health check” will provide the doctors with an array of information that could lead to early detection of any underlying illnesses your cat may have. Of course it’s always better to receive a call from your doctor confirming that your cat’s lab work looks great!
Moorpark Veterinary Hospital takes great pride in providing your kitty companions with the highest quality care, which always includes preventive care visits. Whether your cat is one year old or fifteen years old, preventive care is always a top priority. It is important to us that we provide peace of mind, ensuring your cat will live a long, healthy, and happy life with you and your family.
