If you are looking for a new furry family member, here are some local rescue groups and resources we recommend: Petfinder is a great online resource for searching adoptable pets in local shelters and rescue groups. Russell Rescue is a national network of volunteers dedicated to placing unwanted, displaced or abandoned Jack Russell Terriers into permanent homes. Forever Friends rescues Golden Retrievers from shelters and owners who must sadly give up their dogs. The dogs are placed in foster homes for evaluation, provided medical attention as needed and, through applications and family visits, adopted into loving, forever homes in Ventura and southern Santa Barbara counties. Boston Buddies is an organization of volunteers who rescue and rehome Boston Terriers and Boston Terrier mixes in Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange and Kern counties, as well as some surrounding communities. Their loving volunteers are dedicated to the combined efforts of shelter rescues, owner surrenders, adoptions, and education for you and your present or future Boston Buddy. Humane Society of Ventura County is a private, non-profit, "no-kill" organization dedicated to the protection and adoption of homeless animals throughout Ventura County. Ventura County Animal Shelter has a holding facility in Simi Valley, but the adoptable pets are kept at the main facility in Camarillo. This is a "kill" shelter so animals may be euthanized if they are not adopted.
